Title: Jesus coming - Short Sermon Jesus coming #1

Scripture reading taken from: Matthew 24&25

Before I start on the topic of Jesus coming, I'd just like to remind you of the Word that was preached over the past 2 weeks about the promises of God and the fact that we need to be content. These are messages that are sustaining us. We are living in times that you cannot really plan anything anymore. The moment you put a fixed amount of money in "A", then it bounces and all your savings are gone. And nobody feels any pity for you.

So we need to look at the modern times. We spoke about your conscience - we need to allow our conscience to be our guide. This can be very dangerous, unless you use the right standards. If the Bible is your standard, and you adhere to the Bible, then your conscience can be your guide. It will be a good guide. If you're Muslim, your conscience will guide you according to the Koran.

Conscience works that way.

We need to observe the times. The sons of Issachar - they knew the times. The church need to know the times.

How do we prepare for Jesus coming? Where am I? How am I dealing with issues in life?

Is it helping me to progress to the second coming of Christ?

If not, leave it alone.

If you're arguing in your marriage over the same things for example money:

- give me money
- give me this, give me that
- buy me a bigger house...

then do a check: is this helping you for Jesus coming? Now you have to weigh it up: what is urgent? And is it important? If Jesus is God in our lives, he wants to help us in our situations. He's got the answer. He's got all of the wisdom and He wants to help us, Amen?

Before we continue - this meeting is all about cleansing. Forgiveness is a gift. If you fell in the mud, the option is: there isforgiveness. Sometimes we are shy. I feel guilty - what will people say? No! Take the forgiveness, it's for you!

If you had a quarrel, make use of forgiveness. It is for all of us. That's why there is forgiveness - to cleanse us. So as a church, as a family, as part of the body of Christ, we'll listen to the Word of God, partake of the communion, and thereafter we're going to feast together as we always do. It's when you eat together and sit with one another when you can really see if people are troubled or not. The Bible says, "Bear one another's burdens."

Lets get back on track.

The very news to his disciples when He told them that "I'm going away." - Those very words were devastating to the disciples. They couldn't understand, they couldn't fathom "how can this guy now leave us?" So Jesus had to tell them: "Let not your hearts be troubled." I tell you people: when you heart is troubled, you don't feel good. You don't make sense. You're not reasoning properly. You're at work, but you're not at work, because your heart is troubled. Jesus could see that.

How could He see that? It's because of sitting and eating and chatting to them day after day. He says, "Don't let your hearts be troubled. In life we are sitting with troubles in our hearts. You don't have to speak it, it's written all over your face. The moment you open your mouth to talk about things, even if you hold a "poker face" the concerns of your heart will show on your face. Jesus knew that. He said, "Believe in God, believe also in Me. I'm going to prepare a place for you. If it wasn't so, I wouldn't have told you. I will return."

God keeps His promises. If Jesus says that He'll return and that He went to prepare a place for us, then it is so! That means that we can expect God to be God. We are expecting, people. Something's got to give. Things have to happen. Because He promised that He will be back. When He returns, He's coming to be present with us.

What will the appearance of Jesus coming be like?

  • The appearance of Jesus is not a quick event - it says in a "twinkle of the eye, we will be like Him," but it is an event of things that is going to take place. So His first appearance will be to be present with us. Not even Jesus knows when the end of times is going to be. No man knows the hour. As much as I believe Jesus would desire, because He's the head, He would want to be with the body physically... Not even He knows when the time to return is. Only the Father knows that.

His appearance will be to be with the body of Christ. His presence will be for us. The Greek word "arosia" means presence and it means coming. This very presence will impact our lives. It will transform us. The very presence of Jesus will transform us to such a degree of glory, that we will be like Him.

No wonder the Apostle Paul says, "Now we see doubly/vaguely, but when we see You, in your unveiled glory, we shall be like You." Amen? We shall be like Him!

  • Jesus coming will be unexpected. It will have a devastating impact. For us it will be good news, it will be "Glory Hallelujah!" Amen?

But those who do not believe, no enemy will be able to stand in the overpowering presence of the unveiled Son of Glory. You can actually title this message: "The Unveiled Glory."

  • Jesus coming will be devastating news to those who don't believe. The modern technology they have, the wisdom, the agents that they have won't be able to protect them.

The question is - what do I, the believer, do? Do I prepare myself for Jesus coming? What does a Christian do?

You no longer can confess Jesus as the Saviour and live like the devil. God wants to upset us this morning in order to restore us again. The church needs to be shaken. The church is conforming to the world's system. God will speak to the church. We are the mouthpiece, but He's going to shake the church.

That's why the Bible says, "Just like the days of Noah." What happened in the days of Noah? Matthew 24:26 - This gives us an indication. Life will be normal. You will buy & sell, work and do business as per normal. Then suddenly: destruction for those who doesn't believe. I don't want to focus on the non-believers this morning.

Let's talk about the church. We need to get perspective, get in line, get in order. This is an opportunity

to get in order in the presence of the Almighty God, Amen?

Jesus coming will be to unveil reality.

The word "apocalypses" means to disclose, or bring to light. The disclosure of supernatural secrets. For the Christian the Holy Spirit reveals things to us. Paul says, "If this gospel is veil, it is veil to those who are perishing." To us that believe, it is the power of salvation.

God will say: Yes, you didn't want to believe. I promised you all this. Now He's disclosing all His truth and they're going to see: wow, we missed out! Because now we can already see. We have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us, but the gospel to them is foolishness. To us it is the power of God unto salvation.

It will be witnessed by all. It is for the unsaved. I tell you the very glimpse of Jesus coming, will be devastating to whoever does not believe in Him. It will be the initiation, it will be the beginning of their devastation.

That's why I say it won't be just one quick event. It was prophesied years ago that Jesus would come. He was born. His mother Mary had to move to Nazareth. An event of things happened. Then the enemy wanted to destroy Him...

Disorder before Jesus coming

Before the return there will be disorder.

  • In our local communities drugs and crime are out of control. What can we do to help? I think we should contact and visit our local police, clinics and day hospitals and ask them to brief us on what's happening in the community.

We don't need to go out and fight ourselves. All we need to do is pray! God will do the work.

  • There will be social disorder in our families. We need to follow God's way to fix our disagreements. This is our highest standard. If you're doing it God's way, you can cut the argument. The moment you feel that you still "want to say something," it's your lower nature coming forward.

It is very seldom that the Word of God is silent on an issue.

We shouldn't wrestle and continue arguing on the same matters week in and week out. Deal with it, and move on! So when you've argued with your spouse, deal with it God's way and don't stay cross and see who's going to give in first and break the silence?

How do we get the order back in our families? Fathers must stand up and lead their family at home altar.

  • In the international realm there's disorder. We've seen planes go down like never before and recently we experienced the Haiti flood and quite a number of earthquakes.
  • In the personal realm people are struggling on the inside. They do not really know who they are anymore and what they want. It is because they reject the very prescence of Jesus Christ. The only person that will know who and what you are, is your creator. He created you and I for His Glory and His pleasure.
  • In the spiritual realm there'll be disorder. In Hebrews it says that there's a crowd of witnesses (in heaven) and they're spurring us on. They're watching us on earth and they have a pretty good view of this disorder too! Who are they, this crowd? It's Noah, Abraham, the Patriots, the Men of Faith. They cannot receive their crown unless we finish our job here.

We are waiting for Jesus' coming. We are part and parcel of God's Kingdom. He's banking on you to carry out and be obedient in doing His Godly acts in the earth.

I'll stop here. Eschatology is a wide field. Main thing is: We need to be prepared. We should bless one another and keep on doing the right thing. Kids should be good to one another, bless one another and speak good about friends.

Why? Because when Jesus comes, He's coming for a spotless bride! Amen. End of sermon: "Jesus coming."

We also have a powerful, short Mid Week Bible study on the same topic of Jesus' Second Coming.
