A Little More About Me...
... And How This Website Came About

My name is Elanie. I live in South Africa, the most southern country on the continent of Africa. I’m a wife, mom, teacher, musician, dancer, quilter and I love to grow my own veggies, plus I’m kind of addicted to walking – 6km’s at least 3-5 times a week!
I love jazz! On weekends I play in a quartet. We call ourselves “The Musical Affair” and for the past 16 years we've been playing anything jazzy or light classical at weddings in and around the Stellenbosch Winelands, the Constantia area, including Kirstenbosch. By the way, it's me on the left holding my clari.
Once a week I go dancing at my Hebrew dance class. I'm rather passionate about Davidic dancing. Our group occasionally do some informal performances at old age homes or church functions. (I'm standing second from the right)
As you can gather, I like to try out new things and recently took up the hobby of quilting. I’m working on a “memory quilt” and follow the Japanese quilting style. This is one of my long term projects. Since I attended a quilting course with my 2 sisters, I’m hooked! I don't know about you, but I've tried out many hobbies and these were the ones that found a way into my heart. Think they're here to stay.
And so is this website, my latest "project". I write most of its pages and design the coloring pages and kids Bible studies and other stuff ( that you’ll find on this website). This is what I now do for a living. Yes, my writing and doodling pay my bills and this page tells you how!
My SBI! Story
After ten years of professional clarinet playing, I had my first baby and simply couldn’t imagine myself going back to work, away from home, to leave her in someone else’s care. We took a huge financial ‘dip’ but my husband and I decided that it would be best for all of us if I stayed at home with baby. I started advertising to teach music lessons from home and managed to quickly replace some of my previous income. Seven years and two babies later, things got pretty rough.
I had a difficult time juggling the household, three kids aged seven and under, teaching lessons to a large number of students, marking and preparing music theory papers, enrolling students for exams, hosting and organizing house concerts and coordinating babysitters - not to mention the small home-business that I've started in the meantime, teaching Sunday School and so the list could go on and on and on... did I mention ironing, dishes, the garden, walking the dog? All my hobbies eventually died a silent death… it was just work, house, kids that formed a crazy never-ending race to nowhere. I lost my joy and the "real (bubbling) me" simply disappeared.
… then my mom got seriously ill. In my entire life, this probably was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. We were very close and had a beautiful relationship. She suffered from pancreatic cancer and passed away within six months after being diagnosed, at age sixty-six. All of a sudden I was left without my main support system and totally devastated.
This made me realize that life is too short to spend time on things that prevent you from having joy in life. It caused me to sit back and rethink and re-evaluate everything. I knew that I desired more from life. I wanted to live a life that was just a bit more relaxing, meaningful and with more time at hand. I felt that I needed to be more in control of my life.
After much tinking and praying, I made some serious decisions. One of these were to home school my kids. The Lord clearly spoke to me about homeschooling and I started living the Deuteronomy-6 life. Life became more disciplined, but more relaxed. We still worked hard, but there was time to enjoy each other. The one thing led to the other.
- If it wasn’t for homeschooling, I wouldn’t have stumbled upon SBI! – the software I now use to build this website.
- If my husband didn’t sense from the Holy Spirit that he had to introduce me to computers and the internet, I wouldn’t have been here writing to you.
- If we did not join House Of Praise Home Church at the time, this website may not have reached the thousands of visitors it does every month. Under Servant Leadership, I was trusted to take on this challenge and encouraged to make use of the opportunity to learn something new.
It's now nearly two and a half years since we started homeschooling and our lives definately grew so much richer and if anyone has been shaped in the process, it was most definately me!! I grew as a person and I'm now back on my two feet again and ready to tackle the world. The children are now aged twelve and under, things are looking much better and well, I'm the "real me" again.
I cannot help but sharing the joy I experience working from home. I always had this entrepreneurial spirit inside me and waited for it to be released. God has his own time and my God enables!
In the same breath I can also say that technology also "enables". With just about enough knowledge to send an e-mail and operate Facebook (the minimum requirements for the SBI! course), I started off on this amazing journey of building a website. I could not even create a Word document! I had no idea how to build a website, but I could identify with the requirements that SBI! had to build a site. All one needed, was "BAM" (Brain And Motivation) to build a website with them.
See, SBI! is designed for beginners with no technology-know-how. They taught me tiny step by tiny doable step exactly what to do next. And there are the forums. Hey! If you have a question or were just wondering about something, this is the place to go. These people are just the most helpful community I've come across. Getting help from the most experienced and successful website builders in the whole wide world - well, it's all included in your SBI! package. And SBI! is really all you need. All the search optimization tools are included, your domain registration (and help with it), is included, the Brainstormer program that helps you find profitable keywords is included, well, all that you need is in this complete website-building package. Even the software to build contact and other forms and to create e-zines are all included. Up till today I have not spent one extra cent on other tools or software. Just SBI!
But what what if you feel that you don't know what you'll build a website about? SBI! will even assist you in finding your site concept. In my case, my home church was in need of a website, and SBI! helped me find the right niche for a church website. They even have some tools to examine the profitability of your future site.
It’s now ten months since I started reading the step-by-doable-step Action Guide “Day One” (where a day is not necessarily 24 hours – thank goodness, no pressure!) and I’m very very proud to share with you that the Fueling Christian Life website ranks in the top 1% of websites in the world. There are roughly more than 100 million sites on the net, and our position can be seen on this counter by Alexa:
How on earth, you may ask, did I get this right? And how can someone with so little knowledge make money from building a site? These were the two questions that bugged me most when I first stumbled upon SBI!
All my questions got answered when I started reading more about SBI! and this was the very first video that I watched:
If you have any questions (I certainly had a lot) of how Site Built It can work for you, e-mail your question right away by clicking on this link:

As I mentioned earlier, the one thing led to the other, and I stumbled upon this free e-book for WAHM's (Work At Home Moms) and today I'll just pass it on to you in the same way that I received it about a year ago. Click on the link below to start reading your free W-A-H-M Masters Course today. If you want to print a copy and review the e-book offline, right-click to download it. Is an easy read!
My first website (Fueling Christian Life) is now paying for itself and I've even started to earn some nice extra money by means of the Google Ads on the site, plus I've started building my second SBI! site. Once you've worked to get your site/s up and running, they'll provide you some substantial passive income while you just do maintenance work, like adding a webpage every now and then or preparing your monthly or e-zine. I now have the freedom to work from home and in my own time. See, I got my bread buttered on both sides...even the crusts are starting to get tasty! No running around anymore, no need to organize baby sitters, but I'm at home teaching my children and I now do what I enjoy doing most. The artist in me can get creative whenever it wants to... late at night or smack bang in the middle of a morning tea or, like you probably know - most ideas come when you're relaxed and taking a shower. Well, I still do the weddings on weekends, but now out of choice!
So this is just my story of how my life crossed roads with SBI! and the impact it had on my life. The great thing is that you can try it out for a month – risk free! And get your money back if you see it’s not working for you.
Many people envy my lifestyle. Many people tell me they’d love to spend their time on what they enjoy doing most in life. They dream to work from home, but they simply cannot afford to leave their day job or don’t have the time or energy to follow their passion as I do.
Hmmm, a common problem, and one that I had to face myself! But I solved this problem and I overcame many setbacks, and so can you!
Maybe you want the results I have, but you simply don't have the time right now to commit into building a site? The good news is that SiteSell's services have specialists who can do it for you. They can deliver the same results at an affordable price.
Just read, read, read and ask your questions!
