Bible Verses About Love
I've chosen three of the probably most well known Bible verses about love. A short explanation is added to each in order to
- deepen your understanding about God's love
- encourage you to accept His love
- and to pass it on once you've made it your own.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
To love is to give. To truly love is to give to such an extent that you feel it in your pocket or on your body. Give and share yourself so that it's a sacrifice. Then enjoy the peace and freedom that settles in your heart.
Matthew 19:19
... You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
This is one of Jesus' greatest commandments. Bear in mind that you can only give love if you receive love. This means that you must first learn to accept God's love for you. Believe that He unconditionally loves you. Then you'll find that you'll be able to love others.
Ephesians 3:17-19
"...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
The Apostle Paul prays that we experience God's love in width, length, hight and depth.
