Servant Leadership As Leadership Style
House of Praise Home Church
Kuils River
Our home church, House of Praise, practise the servant leadership style. We as members have benefit to such an extend from this leadership style, that it's sometimes hard to believe when we look back and see the growth and changes that took place. This is also why we feel it's important to share some valuable information regarding servant leaders.
It is a leadership style that are very much defined in the following quote:
"Great leaders do not desire to lead but to serve."
How does this serving thing work, you may ask? A servant leader in church serves his congregation members by discovering the hidden potential and God-given talents which are laying idle within them.
He has the ability to have a vision of how and where things will end up. He knows where he is heading and he fully trusts his church members to develop and grow as God leads them.
Sometimes it's easier to define such a leader by mentioning what he never does.:
- A Servant leader never dominates.
- They do not restrict and limit their members to grow.
- They do neither suppress nor oppress their people in any manner.
- A servant leader do not obstruct, frustrate or interrupt members after they have assigned them their tasks.
