Special Wedding Scriptures To Fuel Your Christian Wedding

wedding bible verses To plan your perfect wedding day takes some doing! After studying these wedding Bible verses, you will be able to tick off one more thing from your list as "done". We all want to start off our wedding day on the right note and if you are in the privileged position of choosing a scripture for your ceremony, I can assist you in finding some neat ones.

Where did I collect these verses? As a musician I have the opportunity to attend many wedding ceremonies in the Cape Winelands near Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek. In this way I hear many Bible scriptures used by marriage officers and preachers on wedding days. When I started to build this website, I started to collect these scriptures. Some of the verses I have not heard on weddings before, like the first scripture from Romans 15, but I discovered them as I was studying my Bible and added them here.

Romans 15:5-7

"Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,
that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."

Short explanation:
These scriptures were meant for the Christian community, but it is a beautiful description of how a Christian marriage should be. Two imperfect people can become one to live a life full of praises to God. If both of you desire the same mind as Jesus Christ, the marriage can be built on a steady foundation.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

"The Lord is faithful; He will make you strong and guard you from the evil one."

Short explanation:
In the daily routine of life there will be attacks on our Spiritual lives. Escpecially if you make a decicion to follow Christ together as husband and wife from day one in your marriage. Pray for God's protection and take the promise in this verse seriously. By His faithfulness, He will build a sense of securtiy in you.

Hebrews 3:14

"If we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ."

Short explanation:
On your wedding day, you vow to your spouse to be and stay with him/her for the rest of your lives until "death do us part". If you are 'faithful in your faith' also and encourage one another with love and concern and if you talk daily on your mutual faith, the reward is big! The reward is eternal if you stay faithful, not only to each other but also in your Christian life.

Proverbs 3:3-4

"Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace; write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favour with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation."

Short explanation:
What you say and what you think in marriage is not enough. Your true love and faithfulness will be revealed by your actions. Ask yourself on a regular basis if love and faithfulness form part of your character.
